This Is My Prayer - Day 1

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.

Philippians 1:3-4

Paul was in prison in Rome because he had been preaching the good news of Jesus. Rather than focus on his problem and his discomfort, he chose to be thankful and to think about and pray for others with joy. Paul had a grateful heart and he was others focused.

Paul's life is an example for all of us on the mindset we must have to experience joy in a world of trouble. This last year has been filled with trouble. Pandemic. Quarantine. Financial challenge. Racial unrest. Political tension. The calendar may have turned to 2021 but these challenges are still our present day reality. Like Paul, we do not need to allow our problems to rob us of our joy. The key is to maintain a grateful heart and be others focused.

Take time today to read about Paul's earlier experience in Philippi when he was beaten and imprisoned yet chose to worship and pray. Note the outcome of this story. How does Paul's example challenge and encourage your current mindset. What are you thankful for? For whom can you pray?
