Strong In The Storm - Day 3

"But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand."

Matthew 7:26

Too many people build their lives on what's popular, what's culturally acceptable, or the political agenda of the day. That might get you that promotion at work or popularity with others -- it looks good! Until a storm comes!

When the doctor says, "it's cancer," does all that money even really matter? Or when your wife says, "I'm leaving," what good is that promotion? A storm brings things into perspective.

So often, though, we want to blame the storm! We look for someone or something as the cause of our problems. It's my husband's fault! It's my boss! It's the government! The thing is, if we're so busy blaming, we're taking our time and energy away from building.

Let's stop blaming the storm, and instead rebuild on a strong foundation. Like the guy at the beach with the metal detector, searching far and wide for something of value, let's seek a firm foundation to build our lives on! Like that old hymn says, "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand."
