It's Worth the Wait – Day 3

So [Samuel] sent for [David] and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on, the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

1 Samuel 16:12-13

Jesse's eighth son symbolized a new beginning for Israel. So Samuel anointed David with oil -- symbolizing God's Holy Spirit power that came upon David.

Often, we pray to God when we're in trouble. Maybe we think we've got it, but at some point, our talent runs out, the ideas run out, and we need his presence. We need the Holy Spirit running through our marriage, our careers, our emotions and our future. God may have spoken something, but what he said may not be what we see. Yet, we should know it'll be worth the wait.

Are you ready for what God's anointed you? You can be anointed but not yet appointed. Until then, you can stick with daily life and your current 9-5 reality. In your waiting, lean into how God wants to prepare you: worship him, live obedient to him, and trust he's guiding your every step. Know that God has not only anointed you, but he's set the time and place for your appointment. Let him develop what's in you so that what you're called to doesn't ruin you. If God's not in a hurry, why are you?
