Here Comes the Light – Day 4

Everything exposed by the light is made visible ...

Ephesians 5:13

Visibility is necessary. We need to see to drive, to get around and to get ready in the morning. If we try doing those things in the dark, it would be a disaster! In the same way, visibility is necessary so we're not operating in spiritual darkness. Jesus' light exposes what's wrong so we can address it.

God let's us choose our adventure. Do we want to walk in darkness or light? Stepping into the light doesn't make everything perfect: we still have to wrestle with addictions, marital challenges and the things inside of us. But we can see what's wrong and can choose to walk in a different direction. We don't transform to follow Jesus but as we follow Jesus.

Have you ever experienced conviction? It's not a bad thing! God does something in your heart when he reveals what's wrong. Ignorance is not bliss; it's the road to darkness. Instead, knowing what's wrong gives you the opportunity to repent and ask God for forgiveness. You can ask him to help you make a change. It doesn't mean you won't make a mistake, but there's something amazing about forgiveness! Light didn't come to shame you but to save, strengthen and sustain you.
