Don't Look Back – Day 5

But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.

Philippians 3:13

When it comes to our spiritual growth, God has a part, and we have a part. We're to forget what's behind us, straining forward. That indicates hard work. Work in is God's part; work out is our part.

Growth isn't automatic, and it doesn't come passively. We need to press! Sometimes, it just gets hard! We get stuck in a holding position -- holding on to past hurts, mistakes or even good experiences that have passed. When we're hanging on to what was, we set an anchor in our lives that keeps us from moving forward.

You can live untethered. Fix your eyes on him. Ask God what's one thing you can do to strain forward? Perhaps it's getting into a new environment to shift your thinking. Writing down and meditating on promises he has for you. Joining a group to receive something new into you. He'll do his part; what is your part? Change is a matter of choice and action. You're not in this alone! The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you, and he's guiding your steps. Keep pressing into more of God. Your life of great adventure with him is ahead!
