IN YOUR GOING // NOVEMBER 18, 2020
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples ... "
With authority Jesus commissioned his followers to go and make disciples. The command is not to go, the command is to make disciples. The word go is a present participle that means going. Jesus is saying, "While you are going, wherever you are going make disciples."
The great commission was not just for the early followers of Jesus. Neither is it only for those in paid ministry. It is a mission given by Jesus for everyone who believes in him. Disciples are made in our going, in the midst of our daily lives. While we are going shopping, going to work, going to holiday dinners -- make disciples. Wherever we are going during quarantine, on Zoom, social distancing -- make disciples.
Jesus has called you to make a difference by making disciples. Who can you pray for to come to know Jesus? With whom can you share your faith as you go about your day? Ask God to set up a divine appointment with someone who needs to hear about the Lord. Then make the most of the opportunity when it appears.
