FOR GOOD // NOVEMBER 13, 2020
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Paul's words are often translated "for good", but in the Greek it means "into good". It is a process. And good means beneficial. When we allow God to put his hands into it, he puts good into it and brings good out of it. The Passion Translations says it this way:
So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose. Romans 8:28 TPT
He is a weaver. Not all is good, but he weaves it together for my benefit. Corrie ten Boom described this process in the following poem.
My life is but a weaving between my God and me,
I do not choose the colors, He works so steadily,
Oft times He weaves in sorrow, and I in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside.
Not till the loom is silent, and the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful in the Weaver’s skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.
It may not always taste or feel good but on the backside he creates something beautiful through the circumstances of our life. Today, let's end the week in worship, thanking him for his faithfulness in our lives.
