Talks With Dads - Day 2

For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.

1 Timothy 4:17

Paul left behind a legacy of changed lives. Those lives were transformed as he preached the gospel, planted churches, and developed leaders. One young leader he poured himself into was Timothy, who he trained up to carry God's purpose forward. When Paul died, Timothy didn't have big shoes to fill; he had broad shoulders to stand on.

A legacy is something that is handed down, transmitted, or inherited. The most powerful legacy you can leave has to do with character — a legacy of faith, generosity, kindness, etc. Paul left a tremendous legacy — his legacy was carried on by Timothy and others, and is still influencing our world today!

What legacy do you want to leave to your children or to those in your sphere of influence? Today, spend time journaling about the legacy you're creating. Close in prayer, asking God to help you align your actions with your desires. Then, before you go to bed tonight, take a step toward that goal!
