DON'T JUMP SHIP // MAY 19, 2020
Then Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, "Unless these men stay with the ship, you cannot be saved." So the soldiers cut the ropes that held the lifeboat and let it drift away.
Paul was arrested for proclaiming his faith and sent on a ship to stand trial in Rome. But along the way, they were caught in a terrible, life-threatening storm. The sailors planned to jump ship in an attempt to spare their own lives.
Jumping ship is taking the easy way out. In the midst of this pandemic you might find yourself facing a strong temptation to save yourself and not fight your way through the storm. But God is faithful and He will get you through the storm if you will trust Him. Don't jump ship! Don't quit on your relationships. Don't step out of community. Don't give in to temptation or addictions. Keep up your courage, which is your mental and moral strength to persevere and withstand danger, fear, and difficulty.
If you are struggling in this area, reach out to a couple of friends and ask them to stand with you in prayer. If you're not in community, consider joining a group where you can build the type of friendships that will support you when life gets challenging.
