BOLD LOVE // JANUARY 13, 2021
God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
While Paul sat in prison he did not pray for release or that he would be able to avoid problems. Instead, he prayed for the church in Philippi as he pondered how deeply he loved them.
Paul's love for the Philippians was with the affection of Christ Jesus. How did Jesus show us his love? He suffered. Jesus said in John 15:13, " Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. " Then Jesus went and died for us. That is bold, sacrificial love!
As followers of Jesus we are called to love others boldly with the love of Christ, even when it costs us something. This is not your love channeled through Christ but Christ's love channeled through you. During 21 for '21 we are focusing on bold love. Who is God challenging you to love today? What is something practical you can do for another to show compassion? What random act of kindness might you take on? Commit to doing whatever God puts on your heart and let the love of Christ flow through you.
