The Hated – Day 3

"If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

Luke 9:5

Before Taylor Swift, Jesus was the OG on "shake it off." He warned us: if we're not welcomed, leave. Shake the dust off our feet. In fact, he went so far as to say it's a testimony against those who reject us.

Rejection brings a sense of offense to our lives. How could they not want us? What's not to love? What's your problem? Then, we're offended they chose someone else for the job or someone else to love. Why is he with her?? If we don't get over it, offense will leave us with a residue of bitterness. That bitter will stain us with anger. We've all had the experience of talking with someone about the weather, and they're so stained with their angry bitter they start telling you all about their hurt ... years and years after it happened! We need to shake it off -- for our own good!

Are you holding onto angry bitterness over someone's rejection over you? When you get over the hurt, it testifies against them. They thought it would destroy you, but you shook it off. They don't have the final say over you! If you have to, fake it until you make it. Don't let them see it hurt you or that they hit you hard enough to keep you down. Ask God to help you receive his word today: shake it off. It's a testimony against them, and move on. Get that bitter residue off of you, and keep on going.
