That's a Big But! – Day 2

When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

Acts 3:12

The crowd was amazed after witnessing the miracle that got a man to walk, jump and praise God! They turned their attention, admiration and awe toward Peter and John. Peter quickly noticed and redirected their wonder, reflecting it back onto the true source of power: Jesus!

We live in a culture obsessed with popularity. We put so much value in likes and followers, absorbing the spotlight and chasing after people, clout and red carpets. When the light is shining our way, instead of elevating ourselves, we can point them to the true source of power: Jesus! We can't solve their issues -- we can barely figure out our own! We can't cure or heal people. But God can! That's a big but! They don't need us. We don't have the power to do for them all that they need so they can live lives far greater than anything they can imagine.

Are you absorbing the spotlight or reflecting it? If someone shines a light on you, reflect it back onto Jesus: talk about how good he's been to you, how he saved you, directed you and delivered you. Step out in faith, and share Jesus' light today using the gift he’s placed inside of you. Find ways today to be a mirror reflecting his light. We don't need to delight in the attention; instead we can redirect it to the one who can provide for all their needs!
