In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light." And there was light.
Genesis 1:1-3
Before there was something, there was nothing but darkness and God's hovering Spirit. He embraces darkness. But does the day begin at sunrise?
In the creation account, Earth was first described in Hebrew as tohu wa bohu, which means formless and empty. Where there is chaos, desolation and emptiness, God brings forth light. We don't have to stumble over the stuff that's behind us. Instead, we can hear God saying, "Let there be light!" So what if our past isn't so great? We can step up! Our problems, issues, drama and even tragedies stir his creativity!
Are you ready for God to speak into your darkness? It's a new day, and the darkest hour is just before dawn. Don't give up! Seek the Lord today, and let the light of his love shine on you. He'll satisfy your soul. You'll grow. You'll be strengthened in the darkest of seasons, and you'll be able to help others find the way.
