So Much Better – Day 5

When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Acts 3:9-10

Imagine the scene: a man sat at the gate, day in and day out, begging for money until ... one day. As Peter and John invoked the name of Jesus, extended their arms to help him up, he jumped, walked around and praised God. He was the same, but not the same. And the people became eye witnesses to God's hand up -- amazed and filled with wonder at a God who would do exceedingly more than the man asked or imagined.

Witnessing an event in real life is so much better than hearing about it later. When people see us down and out and watch us get up ... they understand the miracle. When they see us go through rejection, divorce, a firing or bankruptcy, they have an inkling of our pain. As God gives us a hand up, they see our disappointment turn into delight, and they, too, can be filled with wonder and amazement of God exceeding our expectations.

Are you going through some things right now? If so, your life is a set up for God's miraculous. What if your disappointment turns into delight? You will be a witness that others will look to encourage them in their battles. Psalm 62:8 tells us to pour out our heart to God because he's our refuge. Like the man at the gate, you might find peace knowing what he has available for you is so much better than what you're asking for.
