WITNESS // JANUARY 6, 2021
"Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head.” After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat. They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves.
The storm was still raging. The soldiers and sailors had given up hope, yet Paul was calm. He knew he was going to make it to Rome. He also knew that all those on board would need their strength for what was ahead. His faith and calmness gave them courage, and they ate for the first time in days.
How we choose to respond in the midst of our storm sends a message to those around us. We have all had to ride out 2020. We are all still living in the midst of a pandemic. Many are filled with fear and grief. As believers we know this is not the end of the story. God is with us. He has a plan for us. He will get us to where he wants us to go. When the world is panicking we can choose faith and walk in calmness. Our confident hope in Jesus becomes a beacon of hope for others.
Each one of us has a circle of influence, people who are impacted by our words, attitude and action. They watch us closely. Who is in your circle? Today what words might you speak, attitude might you choose and actions might you take to inspire faith and calmness in the midst of our current storm? How might you be a witness for Jesus?
