Remnant Revival - Day 4

WE AFFECT GOD // JANUARY 13, 2022

This is what the Lord says to Israel: "Seek me and live ... then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is."

Amos 5:4,14

The people of Israel had been full of religious activity, bringing burnt offerings and grain offerings, but oppressing the innocent. Putting on religious festivals and assemblies, yet taking bribes to deprive the poor of justice. Fellowshipping together, but worshipping shrines, kings and gods of their own making. Amos had called the people to repent of ritual religion and to seek God sincerely.

God is powerful and active; integrous and predictable. His character doesn't change: he's a unique combination of justice and mercy, a tension that meets at the cross where Jesus was punished, yet we were pardoned. God is personal and flexible: when we repent -- change our minds and turn around -- God relents. Things are not fixed -- that's fatalism. Instead, God calls us into a living relationship with him; he adjusts to his people. When we change our mind, God changes his. Our prayers affect God, who is faithful and flexible.

How about you? Have you been heading down a wrong path? Have you been walking away from God instead of toward him? He is telling you today: "Seek me. I will be with you." Your prayer, your change of mind and change of direction (repentance) affects God. He isn't fixed; he is flexible, and he is waiting for you to turn around. He wants to meet you at the cross, and he is inviting you into relationship with him. When you change your mind, he is more than willing to change his -- to offer you his love, his grace, his mercy, his faithfulness and his flexibility. Will you make that change today? If so, we would love to pray with you!
