RESPOND WITH GRACE // OCTOBER 13, 2021
“Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
The religious leaders judged the woman caught in adultery without considering their own sinful hearts. They made her stand before the people completely dehumanizing her. But Jesus took a stand for her and responded with grace.
Do you ever have a judgmental attitude towards people who have made bad choices? Do you ever pass judgment on people whose kids are a little wild, or whose marriage isn't working, or who don't live by the rules and traditions you've grown up with? We need to stop attacking the imperfections of others while hiding our own.
When we have a judgmental thought about another person, we must remember wherever light shines it reveals our shortcomings. What if we stop accusing them and started addressing ourselves. Today, let's pay attention to our thoughts about others. When a judgmental thought comes to mind, ask yourself, "What has Jesus forgiven me for?" Let's be lovers of the light and respond with grace.
