Ingredients for a Thankful Life – Day 4

GIVE THANKS // NOVEMBER 24, 2022

And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 TPT

Throughout scripture we see the command to "give thanks" to God, and Paul exhorts us not to give thanks for all things, but in all things. In the good, bad, messy, ugly, painful, joyful, weak, strong, happy or sad times ... we can give thanks.

It may seem challenging to thank God when faced with impossible circumstances. We're not commanded to pretend we love the hard things that happen to us, but we are commanded to thank God with an attitude of trust. We can shift our focus by recounting what God has done in our lives, which can also build our faith in the difficult seasons. Simply taking time to consider who he his, his character and his loving kindness can help us to put our trust in him -- no matter what we're facing.

Have you thanked God today? Giving thanks in all things is a process, and spending time praying, gaining a heavenly perspective, a new mindset, and an open and willing heart, we can learn to cultivate more gratitude. On this day of giving thanks, take some time to consider who God is and what he has done in your life. Gratitude is an attitude, and it can set the tone for your entire day, lifting up your spirits in the middle of any storm.
