When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.

Why didn't the disciples recognize Jesus as he walked on water approaching them? They weren't looking for him.
Fear alters our focus. When the disciples were with Jesus, they saw things through a lens of faith. But without him, they couldn't see clearly. They feared the storm, but what they were really afraid of was sinking and drowning in the water. Yet Jesus was walking on the very thing they feared most, showing his authority over their deepest fear!
What do you fear? If it's your finances, God is Jehovah Jireh! If it's your health, he is Jehovah Rapha! If you fear being alone, he's Jehovah Shammah. Whatever you fear today, know he doesn't want to just rescue you, he wants to strengthen you. As Peter kept his gaze on Jesus, he walked on the water without sinking. Jesus conquers and calms the storms around you and in you!
