Don't Forget - Day 3

For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

2 Peter 1:16

Peter reminded his readers that the gospel was not a fable. Peter was an eyewitness to the majesty of Jesus. This reality from the past was an anchoring point from which their lives were to move forward.

Without memory we don't know the path on which we are headed. Memory anchors us to the past, interprets the present and charts the course for our future. Memory for the believer is not passive where we sit around glorifying the good ole days. Memory is active, reminding us what our faith is all about and calling us forward into action.

Some believers may think they have arrived, but that is a fallacy. Our salvation is amazing, but we were saved so that we might do good works which God has prepared beforehand (see Ephesians 2:10). Our lives have purpose. YOUR life has a purpose! How does the reality of the death and resurrection of Jesus give meaning to your life (marriage, friendships, parenting, finances, education, occupation, etc.) today? How does it shape your future? This story is real! Your life matters!
