ROOTED // JANUARY 18, 2021
So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
2 Peter 1:12
Peter knew that those to whom he wrote were mature in their faith, yet he continued to remind them of the essentials. Why? Because it is important to not forget. Forgetting can lead to loss of identity and stability.
Without memory we are a tree without roots. When we are rooted we know where we have come from and why we are here. When we are not rooted the gentlest breeze can knock us over. Memory keeps us anchored in our faith.
How is your spiritual memory? Where has Jesus brought you from? What do you need to remember today? Take time to write out your story in your journal and remind yourself of your roots.
