Becoming a Builder – Day 2

Jesus called out to them and said, “Come and follow me, and I will transform you into men who catch people for God.”

Matthew 4:19 TPT

Our job is to follow Jesus; it's his job to transform us. How does he do it? He says, "We're going to have a relationship -- a close connection."

Many of us are worn out trying to transform ourselves. There's nothing wrong with reading books, listening to podcasts or attending seminars to grow, but are we stuck on self-help missing the fact that Jesus is the light of the world? Psalm 110:105 tells us his word guides us and lights our path. Being in close relationship with him means we begin to see differently -- under his guiding light. We can't take responsibility for what we can't see. Light allows us to see so we can no longer play the blame game. When we stop blaming everyone, we can start becoming everything we were created to be.

Are you worn out from trying again and again to transform yourself? You're tired because you're trying to do Jesus' job. He's the light of the world, so if you're driving in the dark without headlights, you're going to crash and burn! But if you step into close relationship with him, he'll guide and light your path. You don't have to carry the responsibility of transforming yourself; instead, step into relationship with the one who can show you the way.
