Q. What if it is my first time to Faith Community Church?
A.
Once you pull into the parking lot, friendly attendants will greet you ready to direct you where you need to go. Our greeters love to make folks feel welcome; they'll hand you our informative church bulletin, The Messenger, and answer any questions you may have about the services or ministries. If you have children, you can be sure that they will love our specially designed programs just for them. Be confident in knowing that we have taken extensive measures to ensure their safety and security while in our care.

As you enter the main sanctuary, an usher will welcome you with a smile and offer assistance seating you for the service. Now is your chance to enjoy all God has for you through our services at Faith.

Q. What happens at a weekend service?
A.
At Faith we are committed to providing an environment that offers hope, healing and restoration. From the moment you step foot on our campus you will be welcomed, inspired and challenged.

Dr. Jim Reeve, Senior Pastor, is highly regarded as a tremendous teacher, motivator and a "leader of leaders." Our worship experience serves one purpose and that is to position you in such a way that you are ready to worship God and grow in spirit.

Q. What about my kids?
A.Faith Kids is proud to offer unique experiences for children birth - 5th grades as well as our Special needs Ministry. Our programs are designed to present the Gospel in a way that is engaging and age-appropriate.

All of our Faith Kids check in at the Faith Kids Registration area located in the Kids Concourse across from the Y hallway.

1st-3rd graders will enter into the Kidznet Theatre where they will experience live worship, powerful teachings, and a dynamic classroom experience.

4th and 5th graders head into Zone45. We have all sorts of fun activities to start with such as basketball, air-hockey and Nintendo wii. After some hang out time 4th and 5th graders enter the Worship Zone where incredible worship meets with state of the art multimedia. 4th and 5th graders will meet their small group leaders and experience the Word of God on a personal level while developing relationships with mentors and peers.

On your way to the main sanctuary you can drop your Little Kids (Pre-K & Kindergarten) off in the “G” hallway.  Crafts, playtime, Bible adventure and worship are just a few of the many things that will captivate your young one's heart in this stimulating environment.

Your smaller ones (birth-3 years old) can then be dropped off in the “P” building.  You can leave your little ones here in a warm, nurturing, and secure environment where you are only a pager call or text away.

Q. What happens for my Jr. High and High School Students?
A. The J-High Ministry at Faith Community Church has four weekend services for 6th - 8th grade students in the Aud. Saturday at 6:30 PM and Sunday at 8:30 AM, 10:15 AM, and Noon. Your students will experience live worship, games, and teaching that meets them where they are, in an environment where they can be themselves. On Wednesday nights we meet at 7pm for our 20/20 small group Bible study.

Our High Students are an important part of Faith Community Church, both serving in our community and in our church. They are changing lives as they grow in their own walk with Christ. As such, we encourage High School students to be a part of our regular services on the weekend and to serve in our church on the weekend if possible.

However, it is important for our High School students to have a place to call their own. That is why we have Epic High Services on Thursday nights from 6:30 -8:30 PM in G4 and the Aud. These services provide a time for your students to get connected with God, their peers, and passionate and committed youth leaders. It provides a different environment than that of the weekend as the message, activities, and service overall, are targeted to the issues and questions that High School age students have. On top of that it's a ton of fun.

We also have High School 20/20 group Bible study available. These gender-specific groups meet in a public place, such as a Starbucks, where students along with a youth leader actually learn to hear from God's Word on a daily basis. They meet weekly on different times and different days to accommodate you and your students' schedule. This is something no student should miss out on.

And finally, we have a High School Connection Hub on the weekend. This is an area in the front of the Church where students and parents can come hang out, get some information, or more importantly, get connected to Epic.

Q. What is the difference between childcare and children's ministry?
A. While our children's ministry has childcare for our little ones by meeting their physical needs in a nurturing environment, we are committed to meeting the spiritual needs of your children. Faith Kids intentionally provides an extremely fun, yet safe environment during all services. Our curriculum is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of the Bible at an age-appropriate level.

Q. What is a VIP?
A. Our definition of a VIP is a person of great importance or influence in the life of a Faith Kid. This includes a Very INTENTIONAL Parent, or a Very INVOLVED Person. Both are essential in developing a Very IMPORTANT Partnership necessary to the spiritual formation of a child's destiny. Statistics rank the "youth pastor" as the 9th position of significant religious influence... Ranked first and second - Mom and Dad, while grandparents are ranked third. We want to be your biggest cheerleaders and help fan the flame of your child's passion for Christ, but it starts at home. In other words... A VIP is YOU!
[top]

Q. How can you ensure my child's safety when in Faith Kidz?
A. Faith Kidz takes your child's safety very seriously, which is monitored in four parts. First, we conduct an extensive background check on every children's ministry worker. We are happy to ensure that all volunteers and staff members are "Safe-Kid Certified." Second, Faith Kidz utilizes a security team to supervise the children's wing during all weekend and Wednesday night services. Third, pagers are issued to all parents with children ages 2 and under, as well as upon request for children with special needs. Lastly, Faith Kidz has a multifaceted computer system for registration, which gives parents a special security tag upon check-in. This tag cannot be duplicated, nor can parents pick up their child without it.

Q. What special events do you have in Faith Kidz?
A.

Youth Ministry

Q. How can I get my student involved in the youth ministry?
A.

There are tons of ways to get your child involved in the youth ministry. Most students will be reluctant to go to a place where he/she does not know many people. It is scary even for adults. We want to help put that fear at ease. But it may take some relentlessness at first. It is well worth it. Here are a few ways we can help:

  • Call us or email us here at Epic and let us know you and your child's specific circumstances and situation and we will give you, what we believe to be, the best steps you can take to plug your child in. Knowing who a student is and what their background is helps us best determine which youth leader and students can best connect with them. This makes a huge difference in the whole process.  Our number is (626) 858-8400 (ask for Epic) and you can email us at shanson@go2faith.com
  • Come visit us at the High School Weekend Connection Hub on the weekend. This place is located at the front of the church where students and parents can come to hang out, be a part of a 20/20 group with our High School Pastor, or connect with other students, leaders, and Epic as a whole. Our youth leaders and, most times, our High School Pastor can be found here to answer questions and help give valuable resources to both you and your child.
  •  Lastly, you can just bring them to a J-High or High School service. However, if it is their first time, we still suggest making us aware. This will ensure that we have youth leaders and students ready to connect with them. Relationships will keep the students coming back.

Q. Does the youth ministry at Faith do one on one counseling?
A. Although we do not have trained counseling professionals on staff, we do offer different ways for your child to receive love, care, and attention. This happens best in our J-High and High School 20/20 groups as they not only connect with students and a youth leader in a small group setting, but also connect to God's Word. If there is something specific that a student is struggling with coming to our Set Free for Teens group, may be a better option. This group meets on Friday nights at 7 PM here on campus. Please don't hesitate to call us if you need further assistance with this. (626) 858-8400.

Q. Are there any programs offered that will help my child do better in school?
A.  Education is one of the things we value most in Epic. As such we have partnered with the Faith Foundation to help offer assistance in getting accepted to a college. Whether, it's through our yearly scholarship, training, or simply equipping you and your child with the right resources, we are here to help. Call us to find out more (626) 858-8400.

Q. Who's in charge of the Youth Ministry?
A.

Ultimately God is in charge of everything we do here at Faith and in Epic. But he has appointed some pretty amazing people to oversee the growth and care of our young people here at Faith. Here they are:

Q. How can my student raise money for camp?
A. Students can earn money towards camp by participating in our fund raisers that will be announced prior to each camp.  Students may also work with their family to find creative ideas for raising money like having yard sales. Sell the vision of how important it is for your student to experience and participate in these life changing opportunities, to all your friends and family members. They may want to help sponsor your student!
[top]

Q. What are some good resources for understanding and ministering to my teenagers?
A.

www.homeword.com
www.pluggedinonline.com
[top]

Q. What's up with Myspace and other online communities that my child belongs to?
A. Myspace is a free website that allows people to connect to others in a more personalized way than email alone. The site allows your student to post blogs (usually paragraphs about how they are feeling or the words to their favorite song). They can post their favorite music and is a very individualized "space" that your student can express themselves. However, since anyone can have a myspace and any advertiser can push their products, we recommend that you closely monitor your student's online activity. Look at their publicly posted blogs and check out their friends! You may just find out how amazing your student really is! If you feel that myspace isn't appropriate for your student, we will completely back you on it.

Q. Why is there not a High School Service on Sundays?
A. The High School students at Faith Community are a big part of what makes our church happen and are the literally, the next generation of our church. As such it is important that they are actively involved in the life of the church on the weekends. We ensure that students don't graduate from church when they graduate from High School, by making them part of our weekend services and part of our volunteer teams in our different campus ministries. This will really support your child as they transition from youth ministry into the life of the Church.
Even with this, High School students need a place to call their own where they can be with their peers. That is why we have our Epic High services on Thursday Nights from 6:30 - 8:30 PM, our HS 20/20 groups that meet on different days of the week, and our High School Connection Hub that is set up at the main entrance of Faith on Sunday mornings.

Q. How can I as a parent / guardian get involved with the youth ministry?
A. We have an incredible group of parents that we call our Epic Partners. They support the youth ministry in various ways. To find out more about becoming an Epic Partner please contact shanson@go2faith.com
[top]
Q. Can I go with my student to a youth service?
A. Please let us know if you would like to attend one of our youth services so that we can have a leader prepared to show you around and answer any questions!
